Potentially Toxic Elements (PTEs) in Soils and Bulbs of Elephant Garlic (Allium ampeloprasum L.) Grown in Valdichiana, a Traditional Cultivation Area of Tuscany, Italy

The aim of this study was to provide, for the first time, data on concentration potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in soils and bulbs elephant garlic (Allium ampeloprasum L.) cultivated Valdichiana, a traditional agricultural area Tuscany, Italy. Bulbs soil samples were collected four cultivation fields analyzed by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) determine concentrations As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Sb, Tl, U, V, Zn. these PTEs used calculate geochemical, ecological health risk indices. results suggest that, although from Valdichiana may present slightly high Ni associated based daily intake is absolutely negligible. Cultivation had somewhat Cu probably due diffuse use Cu-based products agriculture, but showed overall very low risk.
